How can fashion your career
Two decades taught in Michelle Donohoe IT industry, a few things about fashion.
This may sound strange, but watching how his colleagues react what she was wearing was a valuable lesson for understanding the significance of the association to a specific image in the business project.
'' Having worked in the industry and have had the opportunity to experiment with fashion, I understand the power of fashion and what it can do for you in the workplace. I know there are some combinations that I wear that will hold talks with people I've seen in three or four years can commence. We never said a word to each other, but agreed to start a discussion,'' says Donohoe.
Dressing for success has not been easy, though, as Donohoe could not find what they wanted in stores. The styles are not flattering, the material was of poor quality, and if the knowledge was good, chances are that the prices were exorbitant.
So with two years of study design at the Whitehouse Institute of Design under his belt, 13 years ago began Donohoe Donohoe Sharman, a clothing line with the corporate woman in mind.
Design first for them it was as an additional duty to his working, his evenings and weekends.
But its focus on fashion has evolved to the point where Donohoe left the corporate world and work full-time line with her husband Greg Sharman, and launched an online store.
Originally from Warrawong and now at High Range in the Southern Highlands based, Donohoe said it was time to put all their efforts into Donohoe Sharman, after its inclusion in his IT career.
She writes her time working in another area of ??their knowledge about what to wear women looking to work.
'' I think a working woman. It will probably be a little more mature, after x amount of years in the workforce and the design things that happen when we get older,'' she said.
'' The main goal is certainly professional women because there is a lot I felt a gap in the market, is in the business world and want the agreement that it was stylish, functional but also affordable. '
His past work has also informed his decision to make clothing in Australia. Although it sources all its materials, are on a trip once a year to Italy and France all the clothes made in Wetherill Park near Sydney.
'' After we from there, I saw the progressive outsourcing of tasks abroad, which is certainly not something I want to be a part of it.''
Sourcing elegant fabrics is crucial to the design process, as it is often Donohoe pattern of the fabric, which inspired him to create, to try to find a way to make beautiful colors and textures to life.
With the creation of elegance in mind, they decided to integrate crystal fox fur as a trim on your clothing, rather than a synthetic version, a decision that they thought long and hard about.
'' I'm very aware of where I source fox. I use a very ethical provider. I do not do that in China, for example, because they do not have the governance in the industry,'' she said.
Donohoe believes clothing should always be flexible and their dresses are designed to be worn in a professional environment, and be dressed down for the weekend, or dolled up for formal events.
'' It's easy for men two or three good suits, a few shirts to have a pair of shoes, and they go and it's pretty well done,'' she said.
'' Women - we have costumes, we have dresses, blouses we have is much more complicated. It is great that you have this flexibility because we we have to live within all budgets.''
