printed in 3D fashion show draws its inspiration from nature

If you think about it, the fashion and technology industries are not so different. Since the development of products that people use every day, follow the extremely fickle trends and insist on remaining on top.

It is surprising that the two worlds finally collide. Although technology has a presence in the fashion industry for years, it has only been in the last two that 3D printing has evolved as a way for designers to rethink their methods. This year, the Materialise 3D printer based in Belgium, has won designer Melinda Looi, of numerous awards for his experimental creations, approached a collection for the first fashion 3D printing in Asia.

"Creating fashion with technology has always been something I wanted to do," says Looi Fast Company. "The cooperation between people from different disciplines and backgrounds really reminded me to pass on the exciting and beautiful things, when art and technology meet."

With the help of Materialise and some engineers, Looi designed a collection inspired by birds, consisting of accessories and winged motifs that echo natural forms. Design, printing and installation of the collection has taken some time, but once it is completed, the team will present their work in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The visionaries behind the collection declares that no parts are actually meant to be worn, but to show that fashion and technology work in harmony. However, we believe that these 3D printed wedges are pretty intense.
