students forge interest in fashion
Although they may not always be in the spotlight of extracurricular Yale scene, a number of students are required to bring fashion on campus.
This Friday, the student organization trace Inc. present the latest iteration of its annual fashion show, "Light Ash: the resurrection of the way," featuring that design bright contrast and dark colors and use our parents, a charity organization, in the care of local children to help. The series of models will wear clothing in local stores as GANT, Jack Wills and language, as well as original '12 collection Elliy Peng. Wang said YCouture, which comprises about 10 active members, brings together students from diverse backgrounds and majors who share a common interest in fashion. The organization works with other associations, such as colleges against cancer in October last year to organize fashion shows, she said. Each student works on her own to create a design with all the material and the method of its "call to heart." Wang said like to use alternative materials such as trash bags, or plastic mesh clothing.
"Fashion is the power to change the world," said Sewon June '16 that works with the micro world market, jewelry made by female artisans from Mexico, Vietnam and Kenya to sell. Jun She said hopes for a student organization at the academic analysis of the fashion design school to start next year, adding that she wants to see students how fashion relates to everyday life.
June has also contributed to a fashion show of the Association of Arab students organize last Saturday. The event, attended by about 50 students and teachers in the dining room Ezra Stiles, presents traditional Arab clothing models from Arab and non-Arab communities worn.
"It was another way to showcase our culture," said Kenza Bouhaj '16, freshman peer bonding of the Association of Arab students, the first was the idea of the show. "The colorful clothing, hand made represent the long history and rich diversity of Arab culture."
